La Femme Nikita was a popular television series that was based on Luc Besson’s movie La Femme Nikita. It started in the U.S. in 1997 and ran until 2001. The fourth season appeared to be the end-of-the-line for the series but the dedicated fans spoke out and launched a campaign to “Save LFN”. The campaign did succeed to a degree and resulted in a short fifth season. When the series ended and it appeared that Warner Bros. had no intention of releasing the series on dvd, the fans launched a new campaign. After a long rigorous battle with Warner Bros. they were once again successful and all five seasons were released on dvd between 2003 and 2006. Christopher Heyn, assistant to Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran through all five seasons, wrote an in-depth and thoroughly researched guide to La Femme Nikita. Inside Section One: Creating and Producing TV's La Femme Nikita is a great resource for fans who want to know about the series. It contains interviews and photographs as well as information regarding the technical side of making a television series. A petition to resurrect La Femme Nikita is currently available on the internet. The show may be gone but it will not be forgotten by the multitude of fans all over the world.
